Rumor: GAPP to Penalize World of Warcraft

An industry source claims that China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and Ministry of Culture (MoC) have reached a consensus regarding the regulatory status of Netease's (Nasdaq: NTES) World of Warcraft operations and will soon officially announce penalties. GAPP will announce the penalties in mid-January before the 2010 China Game Industry Annual Conference (CGIAC).
