Lenovo to Launch LePhone on China's 3 Networks in May

Lenovo Group (0992.HK) CTO He Zhiqiang has said that the company will simultaneously offer its LePhone handset to China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH), China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), and China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK). The phone is expected to launch in the mainland China market in May, and be released overseas at the end of the year. He also said that the company is currently cooperating with internet portals Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU), and Tencent (0700.HK).

Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing said that he expects growth in mobile phone shipments to exceed growth in PC shipments, and that Lenovo plans to become China's largest mobile phone manufacturer in the future, but did not reveal a specific timetable to achieve such a goal.
