Rumor: State Council to Establish Cable TV Network Company

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) announced further details of plans to promote three-way network convergence. Among these was a statement about "establishing" a "state-level cable television network company" in order to more rapidly prepare the market and to hasten upgrades and transformations of existing telecommunications, radio and television, and internet networks.

A source revealed that the "state-level cable television network company" will be led by the State Council, and that operations of the company will be directly managed by agencies under the State Council.
