China's "Old for New" Sales Reach RMB 39 Bln

The latest figures from China's Ministry of Commerce show that as of April 20, 2010, the government-sponsored "Old for New" home electronics trade-in program had recycled a total of 10.6 mln old appliances and sold 10.01 mln new units, generating sales of RMB 39.08 bln. In the first quarter of 2010, sales revenue through the program was up 61.6% compared to Q4 2009.

The IT Industry Department of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) also released first quarter statistics for China's television industry, with production volume reaching 24.7 mln units, up 42.8% YoY.
