China Telecom Q1 2010 Profit Down 9% YoY

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2010, with operating revenues reaching RMB 52.71 bln, up 3.6% YoY.

Net income attributable to shareholders reached RMB 4.27 bln, down 9.1% YoY.

Total fixed-line subscribers fell 4.33 mln over the previous quarter to 184.23 mln. Of those, 111.72 mln were household subscribers, 32.94 mln were non-residential (government and enterprise) subscribers, 14.9 mln were public telephones and 24.67 mln were PHS subscribers. Fixed-line broadband subscribers rose 2.38 mln to reach 55.84 mln. Total mobile subscribers rose 9.36 mln over Q4 2009 to 65.45 mln. Total number of 3G subscribers rose 1.5 mln to 5.57 mln.
