China Mobile: TD-LTE to Meet Commercial Standards Within Year

At the Next-Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) conference held in Shanghai on June 2, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Research Institute director Bill Huang said that over the coming 6-12 months, TD-LTE technology will meet standards for commercial use, and that before the end of the year, China Mobile will work with sources along the industry chain to introduce a number of TD-LTE data products, including data cards, wireless routers, and a number of industrial applications. TD-LTE terminal chips and other equipment remain immature at present. China Mobile demonstrated the first batch of four TD-LTE data cards at the conference.

Editor's Note: According to separate reports, the data cards were manufactured by Samsung, Innofidei, SEQUANS, and ST-Ericsson.
