CCID, 7/09/10

On July 8, the Department of Science and Technology of China's State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) issued a notice regarding the formation of a work group to promote implementation of next-generation broadcast (NGB) networks.

The group will be responsible for implementing NGB policy research, technical system architecture and standardization, core network technology and equipment, industrialization, industry innovation and promotion of applications, trial networks, guiding project construction, testing and evaluation, and intellectual property rights.

Members of the group, to be established under SARFT's Department of Science and Technology, come from various related enterprises, government entities, and academic institutions, and are divided into two grades - members and supporting members - by which will be charged membership fees accordingly. Supporting members will be kept up to date on progress of the group's work, may participate in group meetings, and will have their organization's names displayed on all of the group's press releases.
