Alipay to Recruit 700 Staff in H2 2010

Sohu IT, 7/22/10

Chang Yang, VP of human resources at Chinese third-party payment provider Alipay, has said that the company has launched a large-scale recruitment strategy, aiming to hire an additional 700 new staff in the second half of the year, in addition to its current 1,300 employees, to satisfy the business demand of its major bases in Hangzhou, Shanghai and Chengdu over the next year. Chang said that demand for staff is particularly high in its Shanghai offices, including the areas of financial cooperation and technology.

Prior to the new hiring initiative, Alipay had made changes to its organizational structure and filled out its management team, establishing new financial cooperation, merchant, and user divisions.

Li Jingming, former VP in charge of internet platform technology for Alibaba Group's cloud computing subsidiary Alibaba Cloud Computing ("AliCloud"), has been reassigned to VP of technology for Alipay, and has been tasked with establishing a core system capable of handling over 12 mln daily transactions.
