Rumor: Baidu Developing New PC Client Applications

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) reportedly plans to release a number of client applications in the near future, including applications for e-mail, Pinyin IME, media playback and enterprise IM. Baidu declined to comment on the rumors.

According to public job listings on Baidu's official website, the company's client software division has been recruiting since May, primarily for product managers and managerial assistants to oversee development of its enterprise IM and e-mail clients. In June, the division began recruiting R&D engineers for its IME software as well as Windows Mobile platform media player engineers and engineers to design and develop an audio player client.
