Tablet PC Firm Obtains RMB 56 Mln Funding

Sina Tech, 7/28/10

Legend Capital and Tsinghua Science Park Capital announced today that they will partner to invest RMB 56 mln in Beijing-based tablet PC manufacturer eBen.

The anouncement marks Legend Capital's second investment in eBen in less than a year; the new investment is aimed at helping eBen increase its technological and market share advantages over the competition. Legend first invested in eBen in August 2009.

eBen announced the new eBen T2 today. The new tablet computer uses the Android 2.1 operating system and eBen's own MindMark handwriting input technology, and features a 7" TFT display, up to 10 hours of battery life, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, and a weight of 440 grams. eBen also announced that it will increase the number of demonstration stores and support staffers.

eBen was founded in 2005 by a team including Jiang Yufei, formerly one of the core founders of digital device maker OZing, former Lenovo (0992.HK) FM365 VP Fang Liyong, and industry veteran engineer Zhou Jia.
