SARFT to Form National Cable TV Network Company

DVBCN, 8/19/10

Wang Lian, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television's (SARFT) department of science and technology, said recently that after network convergence trial cities draft and submit their work plans and implementation plans, SARFT will establish a national-level cable television network company. SARFT has already formed a preparatory group for the cable TV company, Wang said, adding that the group is currently in the process of planning. The company will be structured as a national-level parent company with regional subsidiaries, and will be classified as a major state-owned cultural enterprise. Wang said that the national-level company will be funded with state and public investment.
