Tencent, Comsenz Confirm Acquisition

Chinese internet company Tencent (0700.HK) and Chinese online community solutions provider Comsenz have jointly announced the completion of an acquisition agreement. Comsenz will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tencent when the transaction is completed in the near future.

Comsenz's Discuz! discussion forum software is used by over 1.4 mln websites.

Once the deal is completed, Tencent will retain Comsenz's free use, open source and open platform product strategy intact along with existing client and user services. Tencent will utilize its advantages in funding, technology and users to provide website administrators with better products and services. Comsenz is currently preparing to test and release the latest version of Discuz!, and will conduct feasibility studies regarding QQ number and community website account interoperability. CEO Dai Zhikang, the senior management and workforce at Comsenz will continue in their current positions.
