China Unicom: UPhone Targets Mid & Low-End Markets

Zhang Zhijiang, GM of China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) technology division, revealed at the 2010 Mobile Asia Congress in Hong Kong that Unicom's UPhone handsets will be aimed mainly at the mid- and low-end markets, and will be manufactured by Huawei, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), and Inventec. Zhang added that UPhone handsets would not launch until the end of the year, for an as-yet undetermined price.
