China Unicom Begins Testing IPTV Equipment

On November 17, China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) began testing and coordinating IPTV systems platforms and terminals from various manufacturers. Manufacturers whose platforms are undergoing testing include ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Huawei, Onewave, Ericsson, and Channelsoft. Terminals from 12 manufacturers, including ZTE, UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI), Huawei, Haier (1169.HK), and Hisense (600060.SH), are also undergoing testing. This round of product testing and coordination is set to conclude in mid-December; by the end of December, Unicom will announce another tender for terminal equipment.
