Taobao Unveils Hotel Reservation System

Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce site Taobao's online travel channel, Taobao Travel, has launched a hotel reservation system featuring 170,000 hotels. Alipay will hold customers' room fees in escrow and complete the transaction three days after check-out, giving customers adequate time to confirm payment and review the hotel.
All participating hotels are backed by Taobao's "customer guarantee" service, meaning Taobao will compensate consumers in the event that the customer and merchant cannot resolve a dispute.
