Sina Releases Payment Tool

DoNews, 1/24/11

Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) recently launched an online payment platform, SinaPay. Currently, the service is restricted to use with Sina services such as VIP mailboxes, online games, e-book downloads, horoscopes and Sina Mall.

According to the SinaPay site (pay.sina.com.cn), users can charge their accounts by using their bank cards, by purchasing point cards, and by transferring funds from their mobile phone accounts, among other payment options.

The SinaPay site also features a link for Sina Group Buy, though currently the group buying site only accepts Alipay and internet bank payments. Sina has yet to issue a statement in response to this issue.
