Telling, Opera to Establish Mobile Browser JV

On March 5, Chinese handset distributor Telling (000829.SZ) announced that it will partner with Norwegian web browser developer Opera to establish a Chinese joint venture focusing on development, sales, and support for mobile browser platforms. The two companies will invest an estimated RMB 135 mln in the JV, with Telling investing RMB 90 mln in exchange for a 70% stake in the company.
As part of its market strategy, Telling is working to make inroads into the mobile internet industry, initially through mobile browsers, mobile literature, and mobile gaming.
