Alipay Enables Surrogate Payment on B2C Partner Sites

Sina Tech, 3/15/11

Alibaba Group's online payment platform, Alipay, has announced that nearly 100 B2C websites, including Apple China, Dell China, Joyo Amazon, 360Buy, Dangdang (NYSE: DANG), Zbird, Mbaobao, Newegg and Nokia, now allow payment by a surrogate Alipay account holder.

Consumers making purchases on these sites will have the option, upon selecting Alipay as their payment method, to invoice the payment to a third party. Upon receiving a payment request, paying parties can immediately complete the payment transaction from the Alipay website; in addition, Alipay account holders who enable the mobile payment feature can also complete the payment by sending a text message.
