Rumor: Tencent Microblog Leads Sina with 130 Mln Users

An industry insider has claimed that of the microblog services run by China's top four portal websites, Tencent (0700.HK) currently leads with approximately 130 mln microblog users, followed by Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), NetEase (Nasdaq: NTES), and Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU).

According to the source, Tencent's move to tether microblogging with its QQ instant messaging service has seen excellent results. Sina has reportedly just surpassed 100 mln users, and NetEase continues to push on, having just reached 30 mln users through promotion of its microblog service via its games and e-mail services. Sohu is trailing with just 10 mln users.
