Rumor: Images of China Mobile's Browser App Leaked

eNet, 3/25/11

Chinese IT news portal eNet.com.cn has obtained allegedly leaked images of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) self-developed mobile browser, which has been in development for several years.

The images depict a mobile browser application named "Shouji Chonglang" ("Handset Surfer") Beta 1.0, clearly displaying the China Mobile logo. The user interface has a streamlined look similar to the mobile browsers offered by competitors such as UC Mobile and Tencent (0700.HK), with the distinction that the "recommendations" channel leads to a number of other China Mobile services, such as WAP portal Monternet, the Mobile Market app store, and mobile IM platform Fetion. Another channel, titled "Personal," is suspected to be an RSS feed reader.
