CCTIME, 4/06/11

According to an insider source, China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) will release the "D plan," a fourth 3G calling plan under Unicom's "Wo" brand. Moreover, there are indications that trials related to the D plan are currently underway.

China Unicom's "Wo" 3G brand already had three packages - A, B and C - with the A plan mainly focused on internet users and starting at RMB 46 per month. The A plan includes 150 MB of domestic data and 50 minutes of domestic voice calls. The B plan is aimed voice-calling-heavy users, and for the same RMB 46 per month the user receives 120 minutes of domestic voice calls and 40 MB of domestic data. The C plan targets local-calling-heavy users and its lowest price of RMB 46 per month includes 220 minutes of local calls and 40 MB of domestic data.
