Shanghai Completes Cable TV Network Consolidation

Shanghai announced yesterday that the city's cable TV networks have been completely consolidated into a single network covering more than 5 mln households. Yin Yicui, deputy secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, said that over the next two to three years Shanghai aims to complete citywide cable DTV conversion and bi-directional upgrades, build a next-generation broadcasting (NGB) network, and improve services and content, including premium TV programming, VOD, HDTV, and high-speed cable broadband.
