Baidu Releases CB Version of Mobile Browser

Tencent Tech, 4/15/11

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) officially released a closed beta version of its mobile browser today. Baidu says that the new browser is based on the latest rendering core and incorporates advances in dozens of areas to provide users with a richer, faster browsing experience. At present, the browser is available only for phones running the Android 2.1/2.2 and Symbian V5 operating systems.

According to a demo video from Baidu, the new browser allows users to customize their main browser screen, search directly from the browser address bar, flip between different tabs, and manage bookmarks.

An industry source speculated that the new mobile browser was likely an optimized edition of the company's earlier FlyFlow browser.
