Apple Releases iPad 2 in China

Global consumer electronics giant Apple began retailing the iPad 2 in China through its online store and retail outlets today, as well as through third-party retailers such as Suning (002024.SZ) and e-commerce sites 360Buy and Dangdang (NYSE: DANG). The 16G Wi-Fi iPad 2 retails for RMB 3,688, RMB 300 less than the original iPad, while 32G and 64G versions are listed for RMB 4,488 and RMB 5,288, respectively. As of 10 A.M. Beijing time, 2 hours after sales began, Apple's official website indicated that iPad 2s were out of stock.

Editor's note: Only the Wi-Fi version of the iPad 2 is currently being sold in China.
