Rumor: China Unicom to Launch Blackberry May 18

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) will reportedly launch two WCDMA BlackBerry smartphone models for the China market on May 18. The two models, the Blackberry Curve 9300 and Torch 9800, will be available in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou for RMB 2,298 and RMB 4,588 respectively, followed by other cities nationwide. According to one industry insider, Unicom will offer BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) for RMB 60 per month, lower than China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) RMB 98 and RMB 108 monthly packages, but the amount of data in the Unicom package has not yet been announced.
