China to Complete Provincial Cable TV Consolidation by 2013

Cai Fuzhao, director of China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), recently said that China aims to complete provincial-level cable TV network consolidation within two years and soon after establish a national-level cable TV network company. At the same time, SARFT will focus on accelerating development of CMMB mobile phone TV content and services, and nurturing market-oriented film and TV production studios. SARFT has also set a 2015 target for basic completion of DTV conversion efforts of TV station content production and broadcasting nationwide.
