Qiyi Releases Premium Online Video Service

Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) online video joint venture, Qiyi, recently introduced a premium membership service (vip.qiyi.com), subscribers to which gain access to films and documentaries for RMB 9.8 per month.

Qiyi premium subscribers currently have access to nearly 300 videos, including 199 feature films and 86 documentaries.

In addition to being accessible through a standard Qiyi account, members can also log in to Qiyi's premium service using an account with Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) or a number of other services such as Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging platform and social networking site Renren (NYSE: RENN).

Accepted payment options include online banking, Baidu's Baifubao, Alipay and Tenpay. Membership privileges also include the option of watching 720p HD-quality video commercial-free with high-speed buffering.
