Microsoft Releases Bing Dictionary Desktop Edition for PC

Donews, 6/03/11

Microsoft recently released Bing Dictionary Desktop Edition for Chinese users with Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 PCs. In addition to basic translation functionality, the application (available at dict.bing.msn.cn) also features online phrase translation, dialect translation, and intelligent fuzzy-matching and homophone searching to correct typos and misspellings. When translating long sentences, users can highlight words to see the corresponding Chinese translation for more accurate and rapid translations.

A spokesperson for Microsoft's search team said that the company's Bing search engine technology enables the software version of Bing Dictionary to update in sync with the online version, and powers the phrasal translation and dialect translation features of the program.
