China Telecom, Sina Partner on Mobile Microblogging

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) and Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) recently signed an agreement in Beijing to cooperate on developing Sina's Weibo microblogging product and to jointly release a BREW mobile client for Weibo.

According to the agreement, users of China Telecom's E-Surfing mobile, broadband and fixed-line services will be able to use their China Telecom customer ID to log in to Sina Weibo. In addition, China Telecom will embed Weibo within its "189" mobile e-mail service, allowing users to bind the two services and use Sina Weibo from the 189 interface.
