Alibaba Group Begins Major HR Restructuring

In an internal company e-mail on June 18, Jack Ma, CEO of Chinese B2B e-commerce company Alibaba, said that Alibaba would undertake a massive personnel restructuring, beginning today.

Three specific personnel adjustments are currently known:

- Tiger Wang, chief marketing officer for B2C and C2C site Taobao, will return to the Alibaba Group, where he will also serve as chief marketing officer and will report directly to Jack Ma.

- Polo Shao, former GM of the China Business Unit at B2B site Alibaba.com (1688.HK), will return to the Alibaba Group as secretary general, where he will report directly to Jack Ma.

- Zhang Yu, former GM of local search engine Koubei, will serve as GM of the wireless division of Alibaba cloud computing subsidiary Alibaba Cloud Computing ("AliCloud"), where he will report to AliCloud president Wang Jian.
