Chinese consumer electronics and home appliances manufacturer Haier Group has announced it will release its Casarte brand line of "Yun Pad" ("Cloud Pad") smart 3D TV sets on the mainland China market this month. Three models - 58-inch, 46-inch, and 42-inch - will be available for RMB 24,990, RMB 14,990, and RMB 12,990 respectively. Each will come equipped with polarized 3D technology capable of converting 2D content into 3D images. The 58-inch model comes equipped with Windows 7 and Flash, allowing users to install their own PC applications.
Users can use their handsets as remote controls and can also watch synchronized video on their mobile phones. Haier has also partnered with Shanghai Media Group IPTV subsidiary Shanghai BesTV, which will provide internet TV services.
Haier VP Yu Zida revealed that Haier will offer applications via its cloud-based platform based on user demand.
