Shanda Appoints New Bianfeng President

Chinese online media and game operator Shanda Interactive (Nasdaq: SNDA) has appointed Shanda spokesman and corporate culture and communications director Zhu Gehui as president of chess and board game developer subsidiary Hangzhou Bianfeng. Zhu confirmed the news yesterday, saying he will resign from his current positions at Shanda. The position at Bianfeng has been vacant for nearly half a year, following the departure of Xu Chaojun in February to found the start-up blogging site Diandian.com.

Bianfeng executives have disclosed privately that the company is the next Shanda subsidiary slated for an IPO following online literature subsidiary Cloudary. According to one industry source, the appointment of Zhu is a sign that Shanda plans to accelerate Bianfeng IPO preparations.

Editor's Note: According to Tencent Tech, Shanda senior VP Zhang Jin will take over HR and PR responsibilities at Shanda Interactive, and serve as acting spokesperson.
