China's H1 2011 TV Retail Sales Revenue Down 2% YoY

On July 21, the China Video Industry Association (CVIA) and Chinese market research firm AVC jointly announced that a total of 19.37 mln television sets were sold in China (excluding online sales) during H1 2011, generating RMB 73.66 bln in sales revenue, down 0.6% YoY and 2.3% YoY respectively. Differentiating by product category, a total of 16.92 mln LED TV sets were sold, up 7.8% YoY, and generating sales revenues of RMB 65.6 bln, down 1.4% YoY. Sales of CRT televisions continued their rapid decline, with only 1.3 mln units sold in H1 2011, down 55% YoY. There are currently 124 models of smart TV set on the China market, of which nearly 90,000 units were sold in June.

China produced 53.15 mln TV sets in H1 2011, up 0.3% YoY. 44.8 mln were LCD televisions, up 16.6% YoY, while 6.81 mln were CRT televisions, down 49% YoY.
