The Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation and Jiangsu Telecom held a signing ceremony for their new 3G "E-Surfing Changjiang Mobile TV Station" on July 23. Under the companies' partnership, Jiangsu Broadcasting will be responsible for providing licensed content and data resources, including video and audio files, images and text, and news updates, while Jiangsu Telecom will provide systems and support, as well as infrastructure network construction, operations, and maintenance, for the E-Surfing Changjiang Mobile TV Station. Both companies will take part in product planning and pricing for the new station.
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) subscribers in Jiangsu will have access to more than 60 channels of uninterrupted 24-hour video and radio programming through 3G and Wi-Fi networks, as well as on-demand access to more than 6,000 hours of programming from Jiangsu Broadcasting. Smartphone owners need only download a mobile client or log on to http://3g.jstv.com to use the service. E-Surfing Changjiang Mobile TV Station will open for trial service on August 1, and will officially go online on August 15, with commercial operations to begin in the second half of August.
