Sina Weibo Testing New SNS Functionality

BiaNews, 7/29/11

Spokesperson Liu Ji has revealed that Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) is currently testing version 4.0 of its Weibo microblogging platform with several hundred users, with plans to launch the new service in a few months.

The new version adds social networking features such as photo albums and the ability to add attachments to posts.

The new version adds a left-hand column with options to view comments, "retweets," and direct messages, and resembles Facebook's left-hand column. It also features new options allowing users to share content only with certain users.
