CCTV to Launch Trial 3D TV Channel in Mid-2012

In a recent interview, China Central Television (CCTV) chief engineer Ding Wenhua said that CCTV had acquired 3D TV broadcast rights to the London Olympics, which it will use as an opportunity to test 3D TV broadcasts in late Q2 and Q3 2012.

China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has called for ten 3D TV stations to be launched during China's 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015).
