Rumor: China Telecom to Launch Youth Brand

An industry source revealed recently that China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) will soon launch a new fashion-oriented brand, E-Surfing iTe ("iSpecial"), aimed at consumers from the "post-1990" demographic. The new brand will consist of several subscription fee plans starting at RMB 19 per month that include set 3G data limits, with overage charges of RMB 0.06 per MB.

In addition, China Telecom will work with several mobile phone manufacturers to released operator-customized 3G smartphones under the new brand.
