China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) today released both mobile and PC clients for its "Wo You" mobile IM service.

China's mobile IM market has long been dominated by China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Fetion and China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) E-surfing Live products. Since its launch in 2007, China Mobile's Fetion service has grown to 200 mln users. In mid-2009, China Telecom and Microsoft co-launched the initial version of the E-Surfing Live software, and the IM product went on to amass more than 1 mln users by the end of 2009.

Editor's Note: The official Wo You website (im.wo.com.cn) states that the service currently provides support for the PC, iPhone, Android, Symbian and Java platforms. Wo You's features are similar to those available in Fetion.
