NDRC Approves AU Optronics Kunshan 8.5G LCD Project

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved on August 3 display maker AU Optronics' (AUO) plans to build an 8.5G LCD panel production line at its facility in Kunshan. A total of USD 3.25 bln has already been invested in the project, completion of which will allow for a monthly production capacity of 75,000 units of 2,200 mm x 2,500 mm glass substrate panels. Products would include LCD panels and modules designed for use in 32-, 47- and 55-inch wide-screen TV sets.
