China Mobile to Release 30 TD-SCDMA Handsets in H2 2011

Wu Weining, general manager of China Mobile Terminal, the terminals subsidiary of China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), revealed recently that China Mobile will release approximately 30 operator-customized TD-SCDMA handsets in H2 2011. China Mobile is co-developing the handsets with Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, HTC (2498.TW), Research in Motion (RIM), Huawei, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Lenovo (0992.HK) and Yulong Computer Telecommunication (Coolpad). High-end models will include the Samsung Galaxy S II, Motorola 870, Nokia T7 and HTC Z710t, while mid-range handsets will include the Huawei T8300 and ZTE U880. Samsung's Galaxy S II phone is expected to reach mainland China shelves sometime in late August.
