Sony Releases S1 Tablets in Mainland China

Sony China today released its S1 tablet for the mainland China market in Shanghai today. The Wi-Fi only version of the tablet is priced at RMB 3,688 for the 16GB version and RMB 4,488 for 32GB, identical to the iPad 2.

The Android 3.2 tablet features a 9.4-inch 1280x800 resolution touch screen, an NVIDIA Terga 2 processor, and a 5MP camera. The Wi-Fi version weighs 598 grams, while the 3G version, which has yet to be released, weighs 625 grams.

The tablets are available through Sony's online store and its two retail outlets in Shanghai. Sony has yet to reveal a timetable or pricing for the release of the 3G version.
