Zhang Chuan, product director of Chinese internet firm Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU)'s Baidu Union content network, recently announced his resignation, adding that he will soon join online classifieds site 58.com as VP of E-commerce.
Zhang joined Baidu in July 2006, where, as Baidu Union product director, he was responsible for planning and establishment of the content network system. He was also responsible for other products including Baidu's back-end advertising management platform, rich media ad union product Hong Meiti ("Great Media"), and Baidu's group-buy directory site.
Editor's Note: Zhang is the second product director to leave Baidu for 58.com in the past month. In mid-September, Li Jian, product director responsible for all vertical search products and most knowledge-base and community products at Baidu also confirmed that he would resign and join 58.com, possibly as a vice president (see "Baidu Product Director to Resign," MD 9/16/11 issue).
