Beijing Network Convergence Platform Finished

Work has completed on the network convergence platform, funded by China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH), China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK), and Beijing-based cable and broadband operator Gehua CATV Network (600037.SH), being developed for trials in the Shijingshan district of Beijing. The platform has yet to go into operation.

Wang Xiaojie, director of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television's (SARFT) Department of Science and Technology, said recently that in the 12 municipalities and municipal districts selected for trials, bidirectional cable network coverage would exceed 90% by year's end in urban districts, and 70% in all selected areas.
