CCTV Ad Revenue to Grow 10% in 2012

Sohu Entertainment, 10/26/11

He Haiming, deputy director of China Central Television's (CCTV) advertising operations management center, said yesterday that CCTV's ad revenue is expected to increase 10% in 2012. He also revealed that CCTV will begin broadcasting programs in 3D next year, although technical aspects of the venture are still being explored.

During its annual "Golden Resource Advertising Auction" last year, bids tendered brought CCTV more than RMB 12.6 bln in advertising revenue, the highest in 17 years. CCTV's 2012 "Golden Resource Advertising Auction" will be held on November 8 in Beijing, during which He predicts that CCTV's biggest earners, the CCTV-1 and CCTV-2 news channels, will continue the trend, with CCTV-1 bringing in approximately 50% of the broadcaster's total advertising revenue for the year.
