China Mobile Partners with Game Developer PopCap

TechWeb, 11/14/11

Liu Kun, mainland China GM of U.S. social game developer and operator PopCap, has announced a partnership with China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK). The partnership follows the October entry of the Android version of social game Plants vs. Zombies into China Mobile's mobile gaming portal (game.10086.cn). PopCap also plans to release a new game mode for Plants vs. Zombies based on the Warcraft 3 mod Defense of the Ancients.

China Mobile's mobile gaming base announced in July that it would work to attract popular Android mobile games to its portal by offering developers both a RMB 100,000 advance licensing fee as well as a 70% revenue share after the game exceeds RMB 100,000 in initial revenue.
