Panguso Releases PC, Mobile Clients

Panguso.com, the national-level online and mobile search engine developed by China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) and Xinhua News Agency, has released desktop and mobile applications and upgraded its website. Panguso has added or upgraded a number of features to its web and mobile offerings, including a trending news feature, a news comments channel, and personalized user services including search history, bookmarks, and cloud storage. CEO Wang Hongyu pledged the site will not adopt paid search ranking advertising. Panguso has begun promoting a new SME search advertising product, Pangu "Chuang" ("Window").
Panguso has a number of mechanisms to prevent "harmful" information from being included in its search results, including an auditing process and user feedback tools as well as both automated and human reviewing mechanisms.
Xinhua president Tian Shubin was appointed chairman of Panguso when the platform was launched in February 2011, while Wang Hongyu, head of China Mobile's data division, became CEO.
