Legal OS Pre-installed in 98% of PCs Shipped in China

Han Jun, deputy head of the Department of Science & Technology at China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), recently announced at the 2011 China Software Technology Conference in Beijing that 98.1% of computers shipped in China in 2010 had genuine operating systems pre-installed. Genuine OS software was pre-installed on 100% of PCs from brands such as Lenovo (0992.HK) and Acer (2353.TW).

According to China's General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), 18,282 large and medium-sized enterprises in China aimed to use only genuine copyrighted software in 2010, of which 12,262 had been audited and approved by the end of the year.
