Rumor: Tencent to Raise App Revenue Share

Shenzhen Economic Daily, 12/07/11

An industry source close to Chinese internet giant Tencent (0700.HK) recently revealed that the company plans to increase support for small and medium-sized online app developers, and could raise revenue share terms as soon as early 2012.

Tencent currently has more than 150,000 developers registered with its open platform, and over 20 of the applications on the platform have already each exceeded the 1-mln-daily-active-users mark. A number of the developers currently receive monthly revenue share in excess of RMB 10 mln.
