Huayi Bros Wins IPR Infringement Suit against Youku

Chinese online video site Youku (NYSE: YOKU) has been found guilty of IPR infringement by Beijing No.1 Intermediate People's Court for broadcasting the film "If You Are The One II" without obtaining the online broadcasting rights from film production company Huayi Brothers' (300027.SZ), and has been ordered to pay RMB 190,000 in compensation.

This is the highest penalty yet handed down in China to a video website for the unauthorized broadcast of a film. Both companies have appealed the court's ruling.
