ITU Names China's DTMB an International Standard

smxdaily.com.cn, 12/15/11

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced yesterday that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva recently recognized the Chinese-developed Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast (DTMB) specification as an international standard. DTMB is the fourth standard to be so recognized, after US, European, and Japanese-developed standards.

The other three specifications for terrestrial DTV broadcasts recognized as international standards are the US-developed Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) standard, the European Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial (DVB-T), and Japanese Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial (ISDB-T).
